What is your favorite chess book?
- My favorite book is Seven Deadly Chess Sins by Jonathan Rowson. It's a very thought-provoking book on competitive psychology from a chess players' standpoint.
Do you have a role model in chess? If so, who?
- I'm not sure role model is the right word, but I've spent a full life in chess trying to emulate Magnus' play on the board. I've been lucky to learn from him ever since we went to high school together, and I feel like I'm a kind of Magnus extra light. It's been good enough for some great accomplishments though!
What is your best chess experience so far?
- My best chess experience is winning silver medal on board 1 at the European Team Championship back in 2009. It's easy to become a bit blasé about winning - but that one meant a great deal.

What are your expectations for the tournament?
- I'm playing to win. I haven't played much in later years, but I know I'm better than most if I perform my best.
What do you enjoy most about chess?
- I really enjoy analyzing chess - finding new ideas and catching opponents in my prep. When I can remember what I analyzed, that is.
