100 registered participants from over 20 countries!
We've achieved a significant milestone in the inaugural edition of Lewis Chess Legends, with WFM Valentina Verbin from Moldova registering today as number 100 at our participant list. The tournament website, LewisChessLegends.com, has a total of 43,206 unique visitors to date.
We extend heartfelt thanks to all participants and partners who have supported this initiative in its first year.
Lewis Chess Legends can be viewed through three distinct lenses: the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Lewis chess pieces, the competitive spirit of such a tournament, and, last but not least, equal opportunities for women and men in chess.

Looking forward to the tournament, we are excited to meet chess players from various countries at the Archbishop's Palace in Trondheim this August. Registration remains open; for our inaugural year in 2024, we have capped participation at 150. We still offer complimentary hotel accommodations for two female GMs on a first-come, first-served basis.
As we receive photos and texts, we will continue to showcase titled players on the profile page. Experiences and side events will be updated and added continually leading up to the tournament. We are aiming for sunny weather and enriching days in Trondheim this August!
