Trondheim Municipal Backs Lewis Chess Legends with Significant Funding Boost

In a show of strong support for the upcoming Lewis Chess Legends tournament, Trondheim municipality has granted a total of 80,000 NOK to help launch this exciting event.

We are incredibly grateful to Trondheim municipality for recognizing both the value and potential of the Lewis Chess Legends tournament. Their investment will not only help us establish this event in the historic Archbishop’s palace, but also ensure its growth and success in the years to come. We are grateful that Trondheim municipality understands and shares our vision of what Lewis Chess Legends can become, given the time to develop and prosper.

The British Museum believes that the Lewis Chessmen were made in Trondheim, and this tournament is the perfect way to celebrate that heritage. We anticipate that this event will attract visitors eager to explore the history and culture of our city 2030 will mark the millennium anniversary of the Nidaros Cathedral and the Archbishop`s Palace. As chess and history lovers, we cannot think of a better way to celebrate this momentous occasion than to host a grand open international chess tournament.
