ABOUT
LEWIS CHESS LEGENDS

In 1831, 78 chess pieces made of walrus teeth, were found on the Isle of Lewis in the Hebrides, and are considered the world's oldest remaining complete set of chess pieces. Much research suggests that the chess pieces were made by the craftsmen who had been hired to decorate Nidaros Cathedral.
